Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood Will Be the Keynote Speaker at NPRC Leadership Luncheon

Senators Nelson and Gillibrand and Congressman Rothman Will Be Honored at the Event

On November 17, 2011, US Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood will be the keynote speaker at the National Puerto Rican Coalition (NPRC) Leadership Luncheon. During his address, the Secretary will speak about the American Jobs Act and how it would impact the Puerto Rican and Latino communities in the United States.In addition, NPRC will honor congressional leaders that have impacted positively our access to education, health services, economic progress, women empowerment, and fairness for Vieques as part of its NPRC Leadership Luncheon Series.  2011 Congressional Honorees are Senators Bill Nelson (FL) and Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) and Congressman Steve Rothman (NJ.) According to Census 2010 numbers, 1,070,558 Puerto Ricans live in New York, 847,550 reside in Florida and 434,092 in New Jersey.

NPRC Leadership Luncheon Series serve as an outlet to recognize leaders, corporations, and elected officials helping to elevate the standards of our community, bringing together political, community, and corporate leaders. NPRC is the premier non-partisan, non-profit Hispanic organization representing the voice of the Puerto Rican community based in Washington DC and its mission is to enhance the social and economic well-being of all Puerto Ricans through policy development, research, advocacy, civic engagement, and education.
