NPRC PRAISES OBAMA FOR LEADERSHIP ON IMMIGRATION REFORM

Today President Obama delivered remarks on the need to fix the broken immigration reform system.

Puerto Rican are affected by the immigartion issue.

• The Island has an illegal immigration problem compounded by the illegal contraband of stolen birth certificates.
• On the mainland, we are affected by the discriminatory practices toward Hispanics.
• Families are being separated due to illegal status.

Puerto Ricans are leaders in the Hispanic community, we need to be engaged as Americans. Immigration is an American issue, not a Hispanic only issue.
