For more than a year, a debate has raged across the country over Net Neutrality. After weighing all opinions, the Federal Communications Commission is close to a resolution that should satisfy all but the most extreme parties. Unfortunately, there are some in this country that continue to hound the Commission, saying that they haven’t gone far enough in this solution to the net neutrality issue.
We urge the FCC to ignore such fringe groups and to move on to more pressing matters, such as closing the digital divide. The upcoming resolution should work to protect consumers, while simultaneously closing a debate that could possibly decrease the capital investment necessary to build new networks out to communities that do not have adequate access to broadband Internet.
The Internet is a tool that continues to expand and provide new opportunities for small businesses, health care, education and more. These benefits must be made available to all communities, regardless of race, economics or geography. We urge the FCC to stand their ground on their current plans on Net Neutrality, enabling the country to move forward in our goal to provide broadband access to all Americans.
