“Thousands of immigrant youth that recognize America as their only country want to attain a higher level of education. Access to education in America should be for all, not for some “, stated Rafael A. Fantauzzi, President & CEO of the National Puerto Rican Coalition. “As members of the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA), we share the belief that it is about time tangible steps are taken toward comprehensive immigration reform.  The American people know that passing the Dream Act is essential for the future of our country.”

The Dream Act will offer thousands of immigrants who came to the US as children a path to citizenship, provided they follow a very strict set of measures, which include a college education or serving in the US military.

“Bipartisan leaders in the House of Representatives already made the commitment to resolve this injustice, now the Senate must show their ability to propel us forward. We praise the courage of Senator Durbin, Senator Reid, and President Obama for leading the effort to invest in our most valuable asset, We the People” said Fantauzzi.
